An organic spelt pillow with renewable spelt husk filling is a great natural substitute for a conventional sleeping pillow with down filling or synthetic fibre. The organic spelt husks are a high-quality waste product from the grain harvest. They also contain valuable minerals and silicic acid, which help prevent unwanted critters from lodging. Therefore, organic spelt husks are ideally suited as a filler for sleeping pillows.

The spelt husk filling of our organic pillows is in a separate inner cover with zip, which is also made of eco-percale, 100% organic cotton, Gots-certified. This makes it easy to remove and add filling material and allows you to loosen or replace the filling by hand from time to time. You can easily remove the quilted outer cover without the loose filling material of the spelt husks trickling out and having to store it separately when washing the outer cover. You also have the option of adjusting the filling quantity and thus the height and volume of the pillow individually to your lying preferences.
The outer cover is a cotton quilted cover and is made of 100% organic cotton eco-percale, Gots certified, is unbleached and washable at 30°C. It is quilted with 100% organic cotton fleece (approx. 300 g/m²). The filling is in a separate inner cover with zip, which is also made of eco-percale, 100% organic cotton, Gots-certified. The outer cover gives slightly due to the puffy cotton fleece inside and the head is comfortably softly bedded.
What is an organic spelt husk pillow with quilted outer cover good for?
A pillow with organic spelt filling relieves your shoulders and adapts wonderfully to your neck. The spelt husk filling is a firm, pleasant filling material that has long proven itself as an alternative to conventional fillings such as down or synthetic fibres. The spelt husks adapt wonderfully to the natural contours of the neck and shoulder area. This relieves the pressure on these parts of the body during sleep and leads to restful sleep. As a result, neck tension and headaches can be avoided as a consequence of poor sleep.
Spelt husk is air-permeable and stores heat
Due to its snugness, the spelt pillow filling has a slightly massaging effect and can thus promote blood circulation in the neck and shoulder area. The spelt chaff used is from controlled organic cultivation and free of dust and impurities. This prevents insects or similar from settling in. These spelt pillows are also usually well tolerated by many allergy sufferers. However, if you have a house dust allergy, you should first have a wheat allergy test done.

Washing spelt husk pillows with quilted outer cover
You can wash the quilted pillow cover with cotton in the washing machine at 30°C. Please make sure that the washing machine temperature is not too high. Please make sure that the washing drum is not too full so that the outer cover can move freely on all sides. The inner pillow cover can also be washed at 30°C without the filling.
Drying spelt husk pillows with quilted outer cover
Please spin dry and dry the quilted outer cover only on the gentle cycle. Excessive mechanical action on the cover with its quilted fleece can lead to warping and clumping of the quilted fleece. It is better to pull the outer cover into shape after the wash cycle with the zip closed and dry it lying down. This protects the inner fleece and keeps its shape.
