Kapok Pillow
What is a kapok pillow good for?
Kapok from the kapok tree mostly comes from Indonesia or South America, has a natural bulking capacity and is an excellent, sustainable alternative to down or synthetic fibres as a filler for sleeping pillows. Kapok does not need to be washed, it has a natural wax layer that prevents the absorption of moisture. The moisture released during sleep can be released again after use when it is aired out in the air. The kapok can easily be disposed of in the organic household waste or in the home compost in an environmentally friendly way.
How does a kapok pillow work?
Kapok is a very light hollow fibre which, when used as a filling in a sleeping pillow, is breathable, warming, soft and cuddly. As a result, it adapts particularly well to the body parts of the shoulder and neck area and neck tension and headaches can be prevented. Due to the small fibres, a kapok pillow is pleasantly soft and does not produce any rustling noises during movement like a spelt pillow.
Is a kapok pillow healthy?
The kapok used is wild grown and largely free of dust and impurities. It consists largely of cellulose and has a natural bitter substance, which prevents insects or similar from settling in. These kapok pillows are also usually well tolerated by many allergy sufferers. However, if you have a house dust allergy, you should first have an allergy test done.
