Lyocell from nature
Lyocell is a renewable raw material made from the extracted cellulose of domestic wood from sustainable forestry. The fibre is a good alternative to cotton because it requires much less water and significantly fewer solvents to produce. The resulting fibre has a fairly smooth surface with a silky sheen. It has a similar heat storage capacity as virgin wool and a cooling effect like linen. The spinnable material is often used in the textile industry for hard-wearing garments, as it has very good tear resistance.
For our sleeping pillows, the fibre is carded, giving it a natural bulkiness that makes it a pleasant filling material. As the Lyocell fibre consists entirely of cellulose, it is extremely inhospitable to vermin and mites. This can be beneficial for allergy sufferers.
This pure plant fibre is washable at up to 40°C, very crease-resistant and biodegradable. This fibre is therefore a good ecological and sensible alternative to our other filling materials such as kapok or cotton.
