The fabrics for this zafu come from India and have patterns and designs that are made using the wood block printing technique. Traditionally, these centuries-old handicraft techniques are passed on from one generation to the next. Anyone who has had the privilege of being there knows how intricate and beautiful these prints are at the same time. Each colour and pattern has its own meaning and these patterns were also used to decorate rooms in the past. In shape and colour, this meditation cushion is modelled on the very traditional meditation cushions that are still used today in India for meditation. In this size, the Zafu is very comfortable to handle and the filling of buckwheat hulls makes it a lightweight.
A meditation cushion with stretch folds
A characteristic of this type of meditation cushion are the stretch folds that give the Zafu its special flat oval shape. The ticking has the same shape as the cover. As a result, this Zafu retains its flat oval shape. When sitting, the cover gives a little, it can stretch and this makes the zafu pleasantly soft, variable and comfortable. Sitting on the cushion for a long time in a traditional meditation posture, e.g. on a zabuton, but also on a soft yoga mat made of virgin wool, is guaranteed, no matter whether you have just started meditating or are already advanced.

The Zafu Raja is ideal for people who like to sit a little higher up. The cushion can be used from both sides, as the zip on one side has been incorporated in a seam and is therefore not disturbing even when sitting for a longer period of time. The filling makes the yoga cushion soft and comfortable. The handle loop makes it easy to carry and the tassel (tassel) gives you a very nice little eye-catcher on the handle loop.
